Work-related Road Safety
The Health and Safety Executive and the Department for Transport are fully committed to reducing work-related road death in the UK, underpinned by changes to Corporate Manslaughter legislation in April 2008.
Employers are being encouraged more than ever, to provide a duty of care for their employees undertaking work tasks on the road. Serious failings have resulted in criminal prosecutions for individuals failing to take this responsibility seriously.
The Occupational Road Safety Alliance, which includes representatives from PACTS, HSE, IOSH, AIRSO, ABI, TUC and LARSOA are heavily involved in educating and encouraging organisations to develop a safe culture to include the provision of periodic refresher driver training for their employees.
