UK
Familiarisation Training
The
main collisions caused by foreign drivers include loss of vehicle control,
negotiating bends and collisions with pedestrians or animals (Sharples
& Fletcher 2001).
By
providing familiarisation training for non-UK national contractors and
employees, organisations can reduce running costs and provide a vital
duty of care for staff.
Location
& Cost
All
training is on-road and can be commenced from any location. The cost
of driver training is the normal daily rate. For more information email

Course
Duration & Structure
The
UK familiarisation training involves a short assessment followed by
on-road training. The training would usually take 1-2 full days to complete
but does depend on individual ability.
The
training can be delivered on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio (trainer/candidate).
Regrettably, training can only be provided to english speaking candidates.
Target
Groups
Any
organisation with a work force that includes non-UK nationals who may
be required to drive in UK, whether that is as part of their job role
or just to commute. Ideal for those needing to promote a safety-conscious
image to the general public or organisations concerned with the possibility
of losing key staff to injury absence.
Syllabus
The
training covers the relevant sections of the Highway Code which may
not necessarily be applicable in some foreign countries:
-
Use of car controls
-
Priority at junctions
-
Lane discipline and road position
-
Road markings and traffic signs
-
Pedestrian crossings
-
Approaching and negotiating roundabouts
-
Awareness and use of mirrors
-
Anticipation, planning and hazard awareness
-
Dual carriageways and motorways
