MiDAS Car & MPV Course

The MiDAS Car & MPV course is designed for drivers who may need to carry passengers in vehicles with less than 9 passenger seats. It has been derived from nationally recognised Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, administered by the Community Transport Association.

According to a report by Lynn & Lockwood in 1998, company car drivers are 49% more likely to be involved in a collision than ordinary drivers are.

It is generally accepted that companies implementing a driver training programme for employees will reduce their accident rate by at least 25%.

Location & Cost

Course Duration & Structure

The MiDAS Car & MPV includes a 4-hour theoretical training session (including break and theory test) and a 65-minute assessment drive for each candidate.

The theory session can be delivered on a 1:12 ratio (trainer/candidate) with practical no more than 1:3.

Syllabus

The MiDAS Car & MPV course incorporates training in the following areas:

  • Defensive Driving

  • Legal Requirements & Good Practice for Drivers

  • Passenger Awareness & Assistance

  • Passenger Safety & Child Passenger Safety

  • Personal Safety for Drivers

  • Breakdown, Collision & Emergency Procedures

  • Health & Safety and Manual Handling Awareness

Target Groups

Any organisation with employees carrying passengers in vehicles with less than nine passenger seats. Ideal for those needing to promote a safety-conscious image to the general public, especially when carrying children or other vulnerable passengers. Example organisations: day care nurseries, scout groups, sports clubs, charities, care workers, schools, colleges, universities, local authorities.
